AMERICAN SONG CONTEST | UNITED STAGES (DIRECTOR’S CUT)
overview
The producers of The Voice adapted the popular Eurovision Song Contest and brought it to the USA. The show was hosted by Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson and featured bands from all 50 states and represented all genres of music. The biggest challenges for marketing - the show was live (so no footage of the show existed yet); they could not use footage of any bands/contestants performing (because of favoritism); and they could not shoot on the show’s set (because it would not be ready until a few days before premiere). With these restraints, we set out to shoot a very style-forward spot that put the hosts front and center, bringing to life the premise of the show without revealing the contestants.
